a loss for words...

while i have been doing much reading,
my posting has been lacking.

we have the opportunity to open a rehab facility
in our town.
much of my time has been spent formulating
a business plan.
this has been a dream of mine for years.

this will be a test of my practice of knowing
when to hold up, and when to fold up.

my previous attempt was thwarted by the
property owner who reneged on our deal.

time (& money) will tell if this is meant to be.

It can be tough giving time, self. I'm always awed by people like you who do.

Well for me, the 12 steps HAVE been a form of behavior modification. And it takes being thoroughly honest with oneself which is very hard to do I think and may account for those who don't "get it". Not sure what other behavior modification methods your referring to. I know that I truly do not have control of my life. I have turned that over. Does that mean I sit back and do nothing? Of course not, I am required to take action. But I feel a guidance that I did not have before. You probably know the quote better than I: "Rarely have we seen a person fail who have throroughly followed our path" and "Half measure availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point..."

Anyway, thanks for the comment. I appreciate your blog and insight. Good luck with the rehab. I'm interested in the concept of sober housing. Working in one that is.

excerpt from comment;

It warns that the organization has the "potential to become a breeding ground for predatory behaviour".
Although AA holds its creed of anonymity sacrosanct, there is admission of a general acknowledgment of abuse within AA, and that the organization will be unable to duck exposure of such abuse. The organization says it will not protect members from the law.

A spokeswoman for AA yesterday confirmed the leaked document was genuine, but refused to comment further.
