friday questions

what do you do to handle stress?

why do you think long term recovery rates
are so low?

who do you rely on for advice other
than a sponsor?

where do you feel the most and least
comfortable in recovery?

have you lost a friend or relative to addiction?

do you believe rehabs care more about
your money than your recovery?

what is your best advice to anyone
attempting to get clean and sober?

did you make today better than yesterday?

why do think long term recovery rates are so low? because we suffer from long term memory loss. we forget that the suffering is not worth the next drink.

comfortable in recovery? most comfortable in my job and home and least comfortable in some old relationships.

...but the grudge held by Bruce was carried over against our sober house, by ordering all counselors to not
recommend our home to their clients.

Dear Johnny,
I don't quite understand why Bruce had a grudge against you!

Was it because you relapsed?

It was never about you, Jack - I imagine he hadn't processed his own demons!

Anyway, he's had a permanent relapse!

Saturday Answers..

what do you do to handle stress? meditation...I just gave up cigarettes..again..so I think walking may be good too.

why do you think long term recovery rates are so low? complacency

who do you rely on for advice other
than a sponsor? I've got a wonderful network of women in the program so that if my sponser is not available and she often isn't, I can call anyone.

where do you feel the most and least comfortable in recovery? I feel fairly comfortable everywhere. Most comfortable, in my stepsisters group. Least comfortable..still getting used to socializing outside of the halls.

have you lost a friend or relative to addiction? Most recently a friend...my uncle, my mother (though not dead, forever changed)

do you believe rehabs care more about your money than your recovery? Sad to say, I am sure there are some where bottom line is more important but I do not believe that is the intention on most.

what is your best advice to anyone
attempting to get clean and sober? Get a sponser and work the 12 steps.

did you make today better than yesterday? its just begun but so far so good.

I just remembered your friday questions!
1. what do you do to handle stress?
walk, play guitar, pray, go to a meeting.

2. why do think long term recovery rates are so low?
I don't know that they ARE so low. I believe people who work the program of AA directly and literally from the Big Book do recover. I don't know about the other ways.

3. Hmmm I don't really rely on advice from others. I pray and go on intuitive thought.

4. where do you feel the most and least comfortable in recovery?
I feel the same about being recovered in any situation.

5. have you lost a friend or relative to addiction?
Lots.

6.do you believe rehabs care more about your money than your recovery?
I don't think rehabs are even in the recovery business. Rehabs are designed to detox and then break down ones denial. Once they have detoxed and realize they have a problem they are sent to various 12 step fellowships for recovery.

7.what is your best advice to anyone attempting to get clean and sober?
Find a 12 step fellowship that works exclusively from the BB.

8. did you make today better than yesterday?
Hell YES!
