what is your favorite meeting format?
do you believe the christian lord's prayer
should be read at non-religious meetings?
what are your most and least helpful slogans?
how difficult was it to share at meetings early on?
do co-workers treat you differently, knowing
you're in recovery?
if you slipped along the way, do you know why?
what are the best and worst aspects of recovery?

When someone says, That's a good question. You can be sure it's a lot better than the answer you're going to get.
All the things you think you should have done that you didn't do, and all of the things that you shouldn't have done, accept them. You did (or did not) do them. That's reality. That's happened. No changing the past.
Don't compromise yourself. You are all you've got.
Since others have to tolerate my weaknesses, it is only fair that I should tolerate theirs.
William Allen White
When I want to understand what is happening today or try to decide what will happen tomorrow, I look back.
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.
We can be knowledgeable with other men's knowledge, but we cannot be wise with other men's wisdom.
Michel Eyquem De Montaigne
"It's not moment that defines the person, It's the person that defines the moment"
In studying the way, realizing it is hard; once you have realized it, preserving it is hard. When you can preserve it, putting it into practice is hard.

...never get me down.
mondays have never been an issue the past 30 years.
the fire dept work week was 3 days, 3 off; 3 nights,
it was a great way to have a"long Weekend", every 3 days.
of course, there were nights, weekends and holidays;
but i still enjoyed it.
today was step 8 at the noon meeting;
heard some interesting stories of theft,
infidelity, blackouts, and bar fights.
a common thread was how many folks required
help from family and friends to remember the
things they did when wasted.
all in all, a little walk and a lot of sunshine
made it a great day!

is your worst day sober really better than your
best day drinking?
do you recall the time when you first realized
continued sobriety was possible?
are there any activities or events that aren't
quite as enjoyable without a drink?
have you, or someone you know, get into
a relationship with another newcomer;
if so how long did it last?
what percentage of folks in your home
group are the real deal, and actually
practice what they preach.
has anyone mastered the practice of
unfortunately for me, when i talk to
God, it's called prayer;
when God talks to me
it's called schizophrenia

Don't cry because its over, Smile because it happened!
When the archer misses the mark, he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bull's eye is never the fault of the target. To improve your aim -- improve yourself.
Those who have not yet accepted their own imperfection are the first ones to judge and criticize the faults of others..
Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.
What is luck? It is not only chance, it is also creating the opportunity, recognizing it when it is there, and taking it when it comes.
Maturity is the capacity to endure uncertainty.
John Huston Finley
People deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong. Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?
Thich Nhat Hanh
People wait for opportunity to come along...yet it is there every morning.
Dennis the Menace
Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them -- every day begin the task anew -
St. Francis De Sales

first i would like to thank all who respond;
your input is important to my recovery.
how many attempts at sobriety have you made previously?
who introduced you to the AA or NA program?
do you have any desire to drink socially in the future?
if you sponsor someone, is it beneficial to you?
have you stopped asking yourself; "why me"?
are family and friends supportive, or sometimes suspicious?
do you agree that this is a "we" program; or that we are
ultimately responsible for our own recovery?

Don't despair, however, no matter what your addiction is. The large majority of addicts give up every kind of addiction. So can you. That most people do it, one way or another, tells you that it lies within your power.

Let go of what you think life should be so you can experience the life you have.
Behavior is the mirror in which everyone shows their image
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
If you look into your own heart, you find nothing wrong there, what is there to fear?
If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere.
Frank A. Clark
The one who overcomes egotism rids themselves of the most stubborn obstacle that blocks the way to all true greatness and all true happiness.
The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
When you've determined what you want, you have made the most important decision of your life. You have to know what you want in order to attain it.
