amends

taking responsibility;
owning up to past wrongs,
"manning up" to present behaviors(thanks Roger for the term)

all essential elements of growing up.

some of us had people who bailed us out,
cleaned up our messes and constantly
made excuses for us.

becoming responsible does away with
passing the buck, blaming others or
shifting focus off of our behaviors.

while uncomfortable at first, the rewards
of living an accountable life are worth the effort
and time it takes to become honest; with
ourselves and others.
