we are all subject to life's inevitable unfair moments.
many an alky has posed the question, "why me?"
there seems to be an impression among folks
in recovery, that all will be well just because
we stopped using.
well, despite our optimistic outlook, life still
goes on; complete with anger, disappointment,
loss, sadness and breakups.
while we are never spared the realities of life,
our ways of dealing with them are more
constructive in recovery.
no longer do we need to escape, numb or
ignore life's lemons; today we can accept,
adapt and confront with a rational head and
a clear conscience.

oh yeah, it's initially quite a trick to balance life and staying sober...
Well put. It's how I deal with things, good and bad that shows me how I am in my recovery.
