If I only knew...

I love this picture!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could instantly establish a belief in a Higher Power.
No more total self-sufficiency, infallibility, and prideful ego.

My beliefs today are a bit different from my Catholic upbringing.
I went to Catholic grammar & high school, so my version of a higher Power
were centered around those religious teachings.

Like many of my peers, I grew disillusioned with my faith, saddened by the
accusations and convictions of Priests and sexual behavior. Gradually the bottle
became my HP. We all know how well that works!

The important facet of AA for me was, they didn't ask me to believe a specific
Higher Power. It could be the God of my understanding; not some congregation's.
Even today I still proclaim, "God as I DONT understand Him(or Her); but I
don't have to comprehend, to have faith.

Heck, I still can't figure out how electricity works!

Dear Johnny,
Don't lose your soul to Satan (AA). I imagine you are starting to see the light. I will be praying for you, Jack. Be like Jesus, Jack, and challenge the FALSE PROPHETS – Bill Wilson & his DEMONS.

I love you like a brother, John, & I know you have the GUTS to stand up for Jesus, who died on a cross for your sins. I am just an instrument, Jack. God does all the work, if I allow Him.

I will always be there for you, Jack, whenever you need support. I have done the work – thanks to the SAVING GRACE of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

You were "born again", Jack, when you were baptised into the Catholic Church. I too am a Catholic - practising. Trust in the HOLY SPIRIT - He will deliver you.

The last part of this statement ("as we understood Him") is enough to damn your soul! God says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5).

This is the exact opposite of "God as we understood Him." All men, according to Romans 1:18-32, are condemned before God, because they rely upon their own understanding (Romans 1:21; Ephesians 4:18, "having their understanding darkened"), and they create (in their own darkened minds) a god of their own making (Romans 1:23).

I find your comments offensive and obviously submitted without a deep knowledge of how the 12-step program works.

You are misinterpreting the steps.

The Bible also says, "Judge not lest ye be judged." Maybe you should give Matthew 7 a read.

Bill Wilson and his programs have saved lives and restored serenity to millions of people. He has helped tons of people discover a relationship with God, and I think he is one of God's greatest gifts to our world.

If you are a devout Catholic, then I'm sure you realize that the church preaches many things which are not found in the Bible at all, speaking of false prophets...
